Artist Statement
My thought is that the artist role is to raise the level of visual consciousness of the viewer. By opening up the perceptions of what is possible visually the artist has allowed the viewer to enter into a totally new world. Visual perceptions are subjective with abstract art so the artist must create a dialogue between artist intention and viewer interpretation. The prime concerns are how are the objects organized, does the image invite you in, are you able to visually move around the image area, are you curious about what is happening behind objects, what is being said about the area outside the image area? As long as this is met on a simple or complex level then the artist has accomplished the connection between the artist and the viewer
